The Museum of Miniature Found Objects is delighted to unveil another Great Moment in World History. The new installation in the museum foyer depicts the eighth-century Emperor Charlemagne enjoying his first taste of Brie de Meaux, the delightful French cheese made with cow's milk. According to Notker the Stammerer, Charlemagne was so enamoured of this cheese he required two cartloads to be sent each spring to his palace in Aachen. And each year the cheeses were anxiously selected by the Bishop of Meaux, who'd introduced Charlemagne to the Brie.

Here is a portrait in tribute to the noble beetroot — beloved vegetable of Apicius, renowned gourmet of ancient Rome. Offered by the Greeks to Apollo in his temple at Delphi, and no stranger to the Hanging Gardens of Babylon, Shelley immortalised the august tuber in his famous Ode:

'O rough-kissed root! Thou hast slept in nature's bosom,
Now rendered in all thy glory, a vision of beauty.'

The Museum of Miniature Found Objects announces with great sadness the death of a circus troupe who were due yesterday to give an inaugural performance in the Winston Marsala Potts Ballroom. As members of an ancient fairground dynasty from Nuremberg, their loss has been keenly felt in the circus world. The tragic fatalities were caused by the recent bout of freezing weather. The acrobatic troupe, all performing fleas, were found dead in their box by ringmaster Ernestino Smith. When describing the tragedy, Smith wept, "I'll miss them all, especially Goliath!"

In tribute, the curators at the museum have created this floral memorial in the entrance foyer, in honour of the performers. The museum extends its deepest sympathies.
