Ms Ludmilla Pomodoro, former Keeper of Collections at the Museum of Miniature Found Objects, was arrested earlier this year in Zurich. She was due to appear at the Old Bailey on Thursday 18 July, charged with running an international ring dealing in miniature artefacts stolen from museums around the world and sold on to private collectors. However, in a dramatic turn of events, Pomodoro absconded en route to court. Whilst news is still sketchy, it’s believed the security van transporting her was forced off the road and smashed open by a number of her accomplices. Pomodoro was last seen being driven off at speed in a black BMW. The Museum of Miniature Found Objects deplores this turn of events and urges Ms Pomodoro to hand herself in to the police at the earliest opportunity.
